    Cautions and Prohibitions of OMRON Micro Switches

    OMRON Micro Switches Safety Precautions

    Do not subject the Micro Switches
    to strong shocks as this is a low load switch and may cause damage to the internal mechanism.

    ●About soldering

    • As a guideline, the soldering time for connecting to the soldering terminals should be less than 5 seconds with a 60W soldering iron (tip temperature +250 to +350°C), and no external force should be applied for 1 minute after soldering
      . Use the minimum amount of flux possible. If flux gets inside the switch, it may cause contact failure.

    OMRON Micro Switches Usage Notes

    ● Regarding mounting
    , use M3 screws and securely attach using flat washers, spring washers, etc. The tightening torque should be 0.39 to 0.59 N·m.

    Regarding the mounting direction
    , for Micro Switches models with an actuator, install the switch in a direction that does not apply the actuator's own weight to the switch. This is a low load switch and has a small return force, which may cause the switch to not return properly.

    ●About use with Micro Switches type
    If a switch for general load is used when opening and closing a microload circuit, it may cause poor contact. We recommend that you use the switch within the range of use, referring to the diagram on the right. Even if a Micro Switchestype is used within the area shown in the diagram on the right, if the load generates an inrush current when opening and closing, the contacts will wear out rapidly and durability will decrease, so insert a contact protection circuitas necessary. The minimum applicable load is the N-level reference value. This represents thefailure level at a confidence level of 60% (λ60

    λ60=0.5×10-6/times indicates that the failure rate is estimated to be 1/2,000,000 times or less at a confidence level of 60%.
